This is not for the squeamish, but if you have changed dirty diapers it is not much different. I also like having a dry bag after my shower so I just pop a dry one on. The nice thing about this is I have plenty of bags and have no problem disposing of them when I am out and about. The bags are sometimes stained and after a period of time the inside gets sticky/tacky, but they work fine. I have no problem with this and have been doing it for a year. I scrub the inside with my hands from both "ends" and rinse, then hang to dry. I dump the majority of the contents in the toilet then proceed to the spigot in the shower where I dump a couple of squirts of liquid soap in and rinse the bag under the spigot. (Costco makes a nice inexpensive citrus smelling one). I keep a large bottle of pump body soap in the shower. I use a two piece Convetec system and reuse the bags multiple times. ive had this happen a few times so i try not to wear my urostomy bags for more than 3-4 days max but my colostomy bag i wear until le' odor tells me i no longer can. our stomas again are considered dirty because they are made from intestine but the bags are a cesspool for bacteria to grow and it can make it's way back into our system by using a bag for too long. with colostomy and ileostomy bags the stoma is considered a dirty because it is sending bodily waste out of it so there is not really a risk of infection to worry about coming from your bag, however for those of us with urostomies there is. how often are you changing your bag and wafer? you can also change your wafer and keep using the same bag if you feel the need to and again rinse or not rinse it really does not matter. if you are not having any issues with odor or skin irritation then you can keep wearing your bag and wafer until something like that begins to happen. usually when we change our bags it is because we need to change them as they smell or are leaking or something to that effect. as far as reusing the bag im not so sure that works very well. however it is not necessary to rinse your bag since stoll will be getting into again.
